rpr-kingsday-toyrun-630x962 All invited to 1st Rocky Point Rally Kings Day Toy Run!Join in on the 1st Rocky Point Rally Kings Day Toy Run planned for January 10th!

What is Kings Day? Traditionally, Kings Day (Jan. 6th) is celebrated across Mexico as part of the Christmas season, and particularly with gift giving for children. Kings Day is one of the most anticipated days for Mexican children as in various parts of the country the figure of Santa Claus is not as prevalent (particularly in southern Mexico), so the Kings fulfill the role of delivering surprises and toys. The day is complemented with families and friends sharing a traditional “rosca de reyes” (round pastry made only at this time of the year), champurrado (hot chocolaty drink), and tamales.

Rocky Point Rally committee organizers explain a whole weekend of fun is planned around this very first Kings Day Toy Run Event, which is open to the whole community! First, rising country star Matt Farris will be doing acoustic sets on Friday (Jan. 9th) at Banditos and Saturday (Jan. 10th) at Duke’s, both sets starting around 6 p.m. Farris, who was also part of the November 2014 Rocky Point Rally™ action will also be taking part in the Fiesta Mexicana and gift-giving planned on Sat. Jan. 10th at Plaza del Camarón.
