The tides roll in and the tides roll out, and each Spring the Rocky Point Triathlon swims, rolls, and runs through Puerto Peñasco. On April 27th triathletes predominantly from across the Southwest and Mexico will once again take to the waves, sand, and roads surrounding Las Palomas Golf & Beach Resort, winding their way back to one of the best beach parties around. The timed event, which includes both men’s and women’s Olympic and Sprint categories, also offers the option of a 5K or 10K through The Links golf course. (Register online! Rocky Point 360 readers! This year’s Rocky Point Triathlon is being put on by Human Movement Management out of Colorado, producers of more than 350 events across the US including The Color Run™, Denver’s Oktoberfest, Rocky Mountain Triathlon, Ugly Sweater Runs™, Lyons Outdoor Games and more. Event Coordinator Matt Kirkendall at Human Movement tells us they’re teaming up with folk from the expert marathon and triathlon coaching group Racelab in Arizona to ensure a top of the line beach fiesta gig. Racelab, who has been actively involved in the Rocky Point Triathlon for years, is already bringing a big team and invites others to join in!  Racelab has even got a special training plan going on in preparation for the fiesta (err, I mean triathlon) – Contact Racelab at 480-502-9975 or info@racelab.com

triathlon-2012-2-620x465 Rocky Point Triathlon 2013 - Hit the beach running! The team at Human Movement is no stranger to the beaches of Rocky Point. Human Movement President Jeff Suffolk was also founder of the Red Rock Co. who took the reins of the Rocky Point Triathlon after it moved over to Las Palomas about 8 years ago. Now the Triathlon is back in Suffolk’s camp, and Human Movement is looking forward to hitting the beach running. In keeping with Rocky Point Triathlon tradition, organizers are giving back to the community and invite participants to bring clothing and non-perishable food items to donate. Additional worthy efforts include helping out the local Fire and Police Departments with equipment needs, as well as support for the local office on Integral Family Development (DIF) and their varied programs (Amores de Peñasco Children’s Home, Hemodialysis Project, lunch programs, vocational classes for women in the community, among others).
