The yearly Marina Fest in Puerto Peñasco, organized by the Business and Professional Women’s Club will take place from May 23 – June 1st.
Celebrations leading up to the traditional Día de la Marina (June 1st) will begin on Friday, May 23rd, with the 20th annual Marina Fest. The Fest is to include musical presentations, mechanical rides, comic shows for the whole family, and the traditional parading of queen candidates through town, followed by the coronation ceremony at the Fest.
Aleida Grijalva, President of the Puerto Peñasco Business and Professional Women’s Club, accompanied by Haydee Vega de Sanger, Lorenia Morales and 2013 Marina Fest Queen María Isabel Velador, recently went over the 10-day schedule of events with press, noting the location of this year’s Fest will take place near the intersection of Blvd. Juarez and Calle No Reelección.
Grijalva indicated an additional goal of the Marina Fest has always been to raise funds for the Club’s ongoing scholarship programs for young women across the city.

On the inaugural night, Friday, May 23rd, there is free entry from 7 – 9 p.m. and just 10 pesos after 9 p.m. On May 28th, entry proceeds will go to the Dialysis Center project of the DIF, or people may bring 1 kilo of support (canned food, rice, or beans) in lieu of pesos. Rides within the Fest grounds themselves run a cost of about 20 pesos each (approximately $1.75 US).
Invited artists include El Gran Jefe (formerly known as Tropicalisimo Apache), Germán Montero (former vocalist for Arrolladora Banda el Limón), Raúl Hernández (member of Tigres del Norte), Los Bisnietos, Susy Aguilar (the twin voice of Jenny Rivera), and Banda Tierra Calienta.
